I want to know when does it become worth it to have insurance on your bike? What would be the min value of bike/bikes' date=' that you'd consider insuring?[/quote']

BG  If you ride extensively and there is a danger of damaging the bike or yourself in a fall then yes it is worth every cent.

Just make sure you insure your bike for the correct price and update it constantly otherwise you are stuck with a piece of metal or carbon that was underinsured and then YOU have the problem

That's the thing.....I ride a 2.8 cannondale and a Merida matts100 that we upgraded significantly Wink but even combined the value of both bikes is far from 10k. So if I am to pay 150-200 a month is it really worth it?

Alex Forbes does R40K cover for R89... Phone them when you get a chance...

but do they insure when you are racing ?

Most of the insurers have a clause (in very fine print) that when you damage your bike during a race you cannot claim.

Double check your insurers.  This is why i want to go to pedalcare because they do replace even during racing.

You should pay about R85 for your bikes depending on how much theyve been upgraded.

Like my SC, it is insured for double of what it actually cost me but that is how much it will cost new to replace. They insure replacement value, not book value like with cars.

BUT - is a funride a race? its only a race if you're racing a license. the argus is only a race for the giro group. for the rest its a funride

Some insurers are so full of cr@p that even if you bike gets damaged on the way to a race they will not pay out. The specific cycle insurance co's pay out regardless of what you use your bike for (excpet downhill racing)

Nobody wants to insure while we are in Angola. I created an emergency fund for myself, I get interest op die koop toe and if the tandem gets destroyed, stolen, demolished or lost I will have enough munny to buy a new Ventana El Conquestador Double Suspension Tandem with electric sex welding like the one below!!!!!!!!!

Both Pedalcare and Cyclesure cover your bike/accessories during races/funrides. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The premium is lower for Pedalcare, but your excess will be R500, whereas with Cyclesure your premium is higher, but your excess is R250. So you'll have to estimate how often you'll crash...

I'm not sure about other insurers...

They will only insure your fiets if you have household with them. Also, I am covered for all risks, racing, fun riding, training, driving to the race... Already tested them... Big%20smile Would I seriously take a chance with this puppy?
