This morning a played around with the fitting, but picked up a bit of a problem. When the post is inserted the seat is a bit to high, the post cant go deeper and the dropper is not adjustable, what would i do in that case we probally talking about 10mm or maybe 20mm too high????

I think one of the first things to check before you buy is the seat height setting and enough seatpost insertion.

Which post did you get? Travel?

Yeah  i  should have checked it but this happens when you buy impulsive and also  on classifieds ,  honestly i have not idea what post it is.  I has no name on of even a model/part number. The travel  is about 100 mm i still want to  play around with it too  see if i can maybe adjust it somehow before just giving up  on it

Sorry to hear that man! think I saw the sale on the hub for "no-name brand". Thought it was a bit strange. Never knew there was no name branded droppers available. I assume it's internal routing?

If you struggling to fit 100mm travel, that's a problem! I think the smallest I've seen is 65mm. Perhaps other posts are made differently...The post I'm getting is 390mm long, 120mm drop.

Here are the pictures yes it was that no name brand one that was for sale on the classifieds

Lyne Dropper Setpost report back - sizing the seat post:

I've unboxed the Lyne seatpost last night. The quality feels good and every thing seems to be there. Installation tonight, we hope...

Be careful with calculating the dropper seatpost measurements! After doing my calculations, I literally had 11mm of grace making it past the "miminum insertion" mark!

Actual Lyne 120mm/30.9mm seatpost dimensions: See pics attached.

Weight excluding lever and cable = 527g

Remember:

 - to take into account the 38mm that is taken up for the seatpost head.

 - minimum insertion is 90mm

 - min seatpost length ABOVE seatpost clamp >183mm but <291mm (for this model)

See website for their measurements  http://www.lynecomponents.com/#!dropper-posts/gf8sa

My setup calculations: (280mm is my required seatpost height above seatpost clamp)

Length of seatpost (excluding actuator) = 38+120+25+198=381mm

Seatpost above collar = 280-(38+120+25) = 97mm

Seatpost below seatpost collar = 381-280 = 101mm

Grace below minimum insertion = 101 - 90 = 11mm  VERY CLOSE!!!

may have missed something - where does the 280mm come from?

So dropper post installed. I don't have a dedicated internal routing for the internal post. Thanks to Darryl from Bicycle Supply Chain, I have a very neat and efficient installation on my 1x11 system...He used the left shifter cable routing and installed the under-bar-lever where the left shifter would be.

Back to the Lyne Seatpost...

The test ride was around 2hrs at BCC. The short course is a tight trail through trees and begins with a technical section of short climbs, logs stone bridges and plank crossings. Not exactly big drops and berms but a test non the less.

The coolest thing about the dropper is when you mount the bike. With the post lowered, it's a piece of cake getting the leg over. Click in and extend the post with a push of the lever and the post is at full length. Super cool!

As said, the trail is flowing sections with tight turns. By dropping the seat by 20 - 40 mm was enough to feel a difference. The bike felt more planted and I could attack the corners with more confidence. In fact with the lower center of gravity, the back wheel would start to slide before the front wheel gave way. That I really enjoyed. With the lower seat, you do give way to pedaling efficiency. But even a small drop of the post allowed more space to move around the bike. I found myself more active on top of the bike and enjoying the extra grip from the tyres. I dropped the post right down for a ramp I hit at speed. With no seat to worry about the ramp was easier to control.

End of the day, I don't think I was faster around the course. I will also take more time to get use to the dropper. Every now and then I wanted to drop the post and changed gears by mistake...The under bar lever works really well.

Bottom line, the Lyne post works well. Operation is smooth with a bit of a "whheeek" sound when it drops. I did have the post stick right at the bottom of the travel a few times. After loosening the seatpost clamp, the travel worked better, but the clamp had to be less than 6 NM. So I'm concerned about the post slipping. during the ride. During my test, there was no seatpost slip or post wiggle/lateral movement or rattle. Rock solid!

I think this is well build dropper seatpost at a bargin price. Let's hope it proves to be reliable over the 2 years of warranty.

Hope the write up helps anyone looking for a "new dimension" of MTB riding. It might not make you faster, but gives you more choices and freedom when riding the trail.

Ride safe and enjoy.
