Chain recommendaion

Hi All,

 

im looking to buy a new 10spd chain and was hoping for some advice on something decent. its for a Scott Spark 920 and do XC riding. So looking for something suitable for my style of riding.

I am a big fan of KMC. I have KMC on all my race bikes.

KMC X10.93. Cheap and cheerful and does the job.

 

I've also heard good things about YBN.

so im looking at the following 2 options,

I would go for the KMC or YBN because they come with a quick link.  Shimano will come with a pin and you will spend an extra R40 on a link.

I see it has 112 links and as per the chain on the Scott website my bike uses a 116 link chain link (Shimano Deore Chain (CN-HG54) 10-Speed)

 

so do you need to buy a chain with the correct amount of links when buying or how does it work?

Unless you have a crazy big chainring & really wide range cassette combo, you won't use all 116 links. If you're running a 2x setup you most likely won't even use all 112. All depends on your largest chainring, largest sprocket on the cassette and chainstay length.

Count the links on your Scott, I guarantee it will be less than 116.
