Chain Sizing for 34t to 32t chainring (1x11 set up)

I recently changed to a 1x11 setup (11-42 cassete). Was on a 32t chainring and now on 34, so I have both for different terain if I need it. 34 tooth for flat rides and 32 tooth for the climbs.

Was wondering if when I change the 34 tooth for the 32 tooth if I will have to resize my chain at all? The chain is currently ideally sized for the 34t chainring.

Keen to hear the answer. I have a 34 chainring sram 1x11 and want to put on a 32 for the steep stuff. But don't think that 2 teeth on the front will need a link to be removed .

I swop between 32t and 34t dependant on terrain. I use the same chain and have no issues.

Great, that's what I was hoping someone would say! Makes life allot easier when you don't have to resize the chain too!

Try 32 Oval, best of both worlds. Theory is it feels like 30 on a climb and 34 on the flats. The oval has definitely improved my climbing, not sure about the flats though....

I've heard they are pretty good! Just bought a 32 and 34 narrow wide chainrings, so not too keen on buying another chainring. But might give that a try when these are worn down.

All this changing chain rings.....isn't what those old front derailleurs were for? ;)

Haha You're not wrong!!!

Will do less changing around when the legs can permanently handle the 34t on all terain :)

Some feedback:

Went for a 34t. On the easy side I have more than enough (0.8 ratio, and 27.5 wheels), and on the top end I am now not spinning out - can go up to about 40km/hr before spinning.
