Hi Guys, what are the norm when your claim was successful. Do the insurance pay the money to your Lbs or into your account?

It depends on your policy schedule agreement. Have a rad through that.

There isnt a "norm" as such because bikes aren't all insured under the same product type.

Quick insurance related question: If your German Shepherd decides to steal your cycling shoes out of your house and precedes to destroy them, is this a claimable event?

I would think so.

That would depend on your policy.

Look under your Householder section under the exclusions.

Some will have this:

Exclusions
We will not pay for:
chewing, scratching, tearing, denting, vomiting, fouling or any other cause by Your pets;
or

We shall not be liable for:

  loss and/or damage caused by or resulting from:

Your own domestic pets;

I suspect your policy will have a similar exclusion

Policy schedule doesn't state anything of the like, have submitted claim, will see what they say

What WR 1.0 said. However, if it is specified under All Risk it might be covered. A Rottweiler once chewed a client cell phone and it was paid.

With who are you insured? All the companies that we present have a specific exclusion for damage caused animals/ pets/ pests and/or plagues.

Even if the exclusion is not there, this is not an insurable event. Perhaps if you have "accidental damage" included, it might be covered there but then again the exclusion will come into play.

Let us know of the outcome, it will be interesting.

This wont be in your schedule , but rather in the policy wording.

If you dont want to say which Insurer, you can always PM me and I'll have a look for you

They don't specifically exclude damage by your pets/ domestic animals, but also does not state that damage caused is covered. (it doesn't fall under any of their stated Insured Perils)

As the damage happened at your house, they are also not likely to cover it under the All Risk section

Upon inspection when I got home I can confidently say that my dad's idea of destroyed and a normal persons isn't the same. He ripped the tongue out of the one shoe and snapped the string of the boa. . . The tongue was a clean rip, so that's fixable. And the string of the boa is also fixable.

Lesson learnt, my dad over reacts
