parts compatability

Morning all

i am having to replave my cluster on my road bike and have been made aware the price differences between shimano (ultegra) and campag (chorus)

i do admit that im not the most technically minded person re my bike and parts etc...i ride it when the time allows.

question is...if i run campag why cant i use a shimano cluster or vv....or can one mix and match a groupset?

also remember that your chain (usually) needs to be replaced with your cassette

Technically you could and it may work just fine....HOWEVER....see above...also the freehub bodies are different so unless you have a set of Shimano compatible wheels lying around or are prepared to cough for at least a new freehub body (if possible to change on your wheels) it ain't really gonna help...thus negating any saving.

If you are prepared to do some online shopping, you can get Campag compatible cassettes from other manufacturers for half of what you will pay for a proper Campag cassette.

 

Two that come to mind are Miche and BBB

KMC chains are Campag compatible.
