Gen, just quickly help me out here. You say Nibbles has a bad reputation because of being at Astana, despite never being caught, but you support a guy who was banned for doping? 

It was 8 years ago mate, he was 19 years old,.. when I was 19 I was in the army, at 20 I was smoking dope cigarettes and calling Police "Oink Oink" in San Francisco, I am sure you did some dumb stuff as well, we all make mistakes, I was young, I changed, so was he, he served his time and has been racing ever since, no one cares anymore.

 

Okay, well Gen its a big team of 2,... so now we just need 7 more.....!!

Remember this, If we have a boring Giro at least then we'll have an exciting Tour to look forward to.

History has shown that you can't have both unfortunately.

 

The Giro will see Quintana sitting pretty with about 4-5 other riders who can all climb really well, BUT then he'll make ONE and I repeat ONE big attack on a summit finish and take 2 mins on the plebs. - Giro Summed up.

 

Now here's to hoping Zakarin, Nibali or Thomas can pull a Contador, and ride like there's no tomorrow.

....we can only hope.! 

 

I quite fancy Zakarin's chances actually, he is due a big tour win, he is as tough as Russia, not scared to go out on his own and has a strong team, providing he stays upright I think he will be a contender.

My question was more aimed at not supporting a rider with 1 of the reasons being the possibility of him doping vs supporting a rider who was literally caught for doping. Nothing more, nothing less.

 

Once again not going into speculative arguments, even if that makes me the so-called problem in cycling.

Lance was never caught either, but when his teamies started popping left right and center, people started taking notice.

 

How many riders have been caught at Astana, what about their DS' etc. Astana is a dirty team, they have had more positives in recent years than any other team. You can't argue that.

 

Look, anybody can support anybody they want. But trying to paint Nibbles as one of the "good okes" is a stretch.

Personally reckon it is 6 riders that will be racing for the top step. The 6 being NQ, Kruijswijk, Yates, Zakarin, Tommy D & Nibali. My podium prediction: 1) NQ, 2) Kruijswijk & 3) Tommy D.

 

Will be heading out to sea for a month for work and will be without the internet during that time. Hope you lads and lady will have a blast watching/following the Giro! May it be an entertaining race!

 

Slight addendum before we run out of cell phone reception: I forgot Pinot! So it's a 7 horse race and not 6. And hopefully all of them get a stage win too!

Nairo is the favourite but I think its going to be very close. 

 

Nibali, Zak, Thomas, Landa, Pinot, Kruijswyk, Tom D and Yates must all fancy their chances. Sadly I don't think TJ or Rolland will be in the mix.

I'm gonna put a few bucks on Yates (because he seems cool and the odds are good) and Kruijswyk (because I think he has unresolved issues with the race and Nibbles from last year)

 

So that's who I will be supporting, and that's why. Because I have money in them
