If they are exactly the same price then the Scott is better spec being carbon framed and having the 1x11 setup.

Still I would find it hard to pick something over the anthem, I have one and love it.

I just had AC wide lightning rims on..

Base weight was 12.4kg with the wheels...

I have this exact bike and really enjoy it, but Giant are putting ZERO effort into their 29er range. If I were you I would definitely get a 2017 Scott Spark, even if you have to wait a bit. Either the 930 or 940, whichever fits the pocket.

Uhm Bridge cycles are selling without negotiating the Anthem X 29er for 34k. (its the black and yellow alu frame??)

Yes I know 34k for anthem.. then another 8.5k for my rims to be back where I was..I'll find out today what the anthem advance goes for and compare the odds then

Totally biased here and I am also looking at a XC race bike. I like the Anthem.

2016 29er frame has all the issues addressed if you want aluminium.

The carbon ones all seem good and the maestro suspension works fantastic.

I just always thought that the bouncy-bouncy rear suspension of the Specialized and Scott bikes are not ideal and the addition of the brain on the Spaz and Lockouts on the Scotts a bit of a pain.

I tried a 720 Spark when they launched and had a Spaz without the brain addition (Stumpjumper) and the rear bounce put me off even if you "tune" the rebound.

Our Olympic XC racers had an Anthem and a Epic and Nino rides a Spark. That should tell you something they all great bikes so go try them out before you buy and decide.
