What's up with the whole "Not shippable to South Africa" business?????

Not only CRC but Bike24, Bike-discount .... act.  Is it the local importers being VERY VERY greedy or is price fixing just becoming the norm in SA.

Can't import any SRAM or Rockshock products and I do believe some other names are also on the list.

Does anybody have a workable solution for this "issue"or are we stuck with the "Cape Cycles and Omnico" will screw you over companies?

There is a whole thread discussing the situation with SRAM no longer shipping to SA. Search and you should find it.

To my knowledge, it's not only SA. Apparently Oz and a few other areas have also been affected.

Aramex Global Shopper. Had a few issues at first but ever since has been great. You do pay full UK / US prices as they give you a UK address. You pay per 0.5kg and the tax / duties here are based on the commercial invoice that the company you're buying from.

Hint: The commercial invoice can be uploaded from your side once the shipment is sent. You can generate your own invoice if the CRC / eBay or someone forgets to include theirs when they send, upload it and all values are based on that.

Thanks for the help so far.

It's just soooooo annoying that we have to go to these lengths to pay a reasonable price for products because of "external" factors

You then pay UK tax + import duties? correct? How does that compare to local online shops?

Yeah, I was considering the new All-Mountain fork from Shimano. Do you remember its name, Shaper?

You not used that fork, I hear it has good reviews !!!... so go Fox, MRP etc and vote with your wallet with regard to SRAM and it's business practice.....

There was a time about 5 years ago when Mavic did the same thing with their products - they wouldn't allow CRC and other online dealers to ship out of the EU.  But I think they (Mavic) came to their senses - their stuff is now available again.

I imagine the same will happen with SRAM, although it may take a few years for the drop in sales to show them the error of their ways.
