I would take a bet that the odds of being bitten by a snake whilst cycling is almost zero.

The odds of getting bitten whilst hiking is already low, now add a bike and speed.

Most snake bites occur in rural areas where people walk barefooted, at dusk or when people try to catch/harass/kill snakes.

Did Conties again today and saw another cobra ... hood up pointed away from me thankfully. I said hello and went faster up the hill.

 

Later on the same ride I screeched to a halt because there was a guinea fowl feather standing upright against a stick and my amygdyla told me it was a cobra.
