The often quoted wisdom is 50% of purchase price less 10% per annum. Part of the reason is that a private 2nd hand deal excludes VAT and any remaining warranty is usually not transferable to the new owner so his risk is higher. Personally I think a well maintained bike is worth more.

If the gears are worn to sharp points, chain stretched to hell, wheel bearings wobbly then a lot of other stuff like discs, fork, shock and pivots is also likely worn down and it can cost the new owner a lot to make it reliable.

If your bike is well maintained and the milage is low and components still have more than 50% life in them then you can 5ask quite a bit more than 50 % I reckon.

If it was a large I'd buy it....looking for something like this

I had a giant XTC with XT groupset, was not going to get what bike was worth (to me) when reselling.

Ended up buying an Anthem frame and rebuilt everything on there.

That seems to be the 'problem'. Just take a look at the classifieds. There are a lot of bikes of yesteryear for sale.

Some really nice components on there.

Sell the frame, and transfer components onto a new frame?

+1, 15k is not a lot for all the upgrades you have on there.
