Are "Ride before you buy" events still a thing?

Hi hubbers,

Do bike manufacturers still do "ride before you buy" events?

There are so many new types of bikes (spec-wise) out there and would like to know what they feel like. Especially the new Silverback range which looks pretty cool I must add.

If there is a calendar of sorts, please post.

I am in Western Cape

PS, sorry if this has been dealt with on a previous post

Complete Cyclist in Jhb (Bryanston and Bedfordview) have regular events with Spez test bikes.

Follow them on facebook for details.

Some Spez stores have a loaner fleet of bikes; just ask.

Thanx for the update, I am in Western Cape unfortunately but will keep it in mind

No Spez shops in the Western Cape? :whistling:

Sure there are, but I am referring more to the sort of days, often held at Jonkershoek, where a specific brand comes out with their whole arsenal so you can try their range.

Transition and Banshee have demo days quite often and I think Transition has demo bikes that they can pass to various dealers if customer want to give them a test before they buy.

Don't really see these events anymore, logistically it's a bit of a pain for all concerned.

But now quite a few brands have different demo days of their own and between them and the bike shops there's normally a demo bike available to ride.

With 2017 stock arriving, now is the time to score a good deal on this year's stuff.

The Spaz shop in Stellies has pretty much a full range of demos you can ride, plus theres a pump track outside.

I will never buy a bike from a manufacturer that does not have demo days. Spaz are hands down the best at this.

Special mention to The Banshee and Transition dealers as well (Dirt Merchant).

Except that Spaz have done away with their test the best days. Tiaan and a few of the other guys were let go earlier this year. Sending a team around the country to do demo days is $$, man.

It's up to the shops themselves, now.
