I like the idea of a new bike. Is Swift good? How about a 2nd hand Specialized S Works?

Just remember Spez only a good bike when you buy all matching (preferably matt black) spez kit. So make provisions for another 10k in your budget.

You can pick up really nice 2nd hand bikes.. I picked up a Spez SL3 for 15k..came with sram red components.. all I did was change the crank to a compact crank and that I also bought 2nd hand (but ridden twice)for 900 bucks????

In your price range though if you were going for a new bike consider BMC their TEAM MACHINE SLR 02, 105 is probably one of the best bikes available around the 40k mark. It won't be specced like a Merida at the same price point but what you don't get in group set and wheels you get in the frame if you go BMC.

Thanks for the replies. 60cm. I saw the Merida Reacto with ultegra di2 for like 40 000?

Also you say you are a 60, how tall are you? Rather than just looking at size look at bike geometry, Merida 61 is the same as most other manufacturers 58.

I am 208cm tall and the Merida (scultura 400) 61 that I started out on was actually a bit to small for me but my BMC 60cm fits like a glove.

I will stay on 2nd hand sites to check out their deals. The Swift Attack looks real good. Would you add 10k and get the Spez S Works, Swift attack or 2nd hand deal something else.

I want to get really good at cycling and do sub 2:30 times at 94.7 challenge. This year I did 3:28 on a 26" MTB with slicks and a little training.
