Do I have everything for tubeless?

I've opened up tyres months later, and never found these effects, so I have a feeling the damage only happens if co2 and ammonia are in contact over a period of days/weeks/months ... but would love to hear a more definitive answer

if you had no ugly stans babies caused by co2 bombs then you already have your definitive answer bud. i however will not use a co2 to seat cause i'll be afraid of those ugly babies. :P

Hi all,

Getting ready for our vacation to Montagu and cannot wait! Long open gravel roads (I know nothing special, but hey I am a photographer, I will keep myself busy with pics) on the farm.

Anyways, please correct me if I am wrong, I will need:

- 2 x Tubeless Values

- Rim Tape

http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/rubena-tubeless-valve

I am 80% sure I have rim tape in both my rims (the colour was green) and looks like plastic sort of.

Not sure if that is rim tape? If I do not have what rim tape would you recommend or can I get anyone. My friend's rim tape almost looks like a mini inner tube, but it has the tubeless value and everything.

Also, I am fitting 2 x Maxxis Ikon 29 x 2.2 tyres.

Any help will be appreciated thanks. :)

Just out of interest, do you know if the MTB trails in Montagu are any good?

I have never ridden any tracks there. But I would love to ride a track there if any locals can advise.

I have been to about 5 different builders shops and no one had a clue what Gorilla tape is.

Same here, but only one though haha.

They did not what I was talking about.

EDIT: Going to try Mica next.

Builders Warehouse of Umgeni Road in Durban has in stock. I saw it there a few weeks ago. Speaking of which I need to go buy some more before it disappears. My last roll I fount in a tiny hardware store in Amsterdam (its done about 6 bikes and still have half a roll left) ..

OK, gotta retract the above: had this in my tyre today - and I always bomb the tyre, then deflate and use a pump. So it seems the co2 damage is pretty much immediate

So even though I didn't get a perfect seal on my coke bottle inflator, I managed to get it up to 90psi and pop both tyres onto the rim. Interesting, it wouldn't work until I took the valve cores out on the rims - needed to get the air in quick enough - the 90psi was enough but the cores were slowing the flow down. In fairness, it was a new tubeless setup - so there was no sealant in the system at all, and the tyres weren't glued with sealant to any part of the frame - always the hardest one to get right, and the coke bottle did it, so I'm happy.
