Lazy will ruin you carbon wheels!!

As you will likely get aluminium filings inbeded in the carbon brake pads which will ruin the breaking surface of your carbon rims when you go back to them.

I think Swisstop made a pad that was compatible with both, still does't solve the alu fillings problem

Quite a few brands that make a dual compatible pad. But like you say it's still has the same issue when changing wheels.

OP, I also got tired of swopping pads over between training and racing wheels so I just got my old Raleigh going again and use that to train on. Much easier.

I think that if it's an option, it's probably best to get a dedicated training bike, something that's cheap to service, and that you don't mind scratching up a bit.

Such a bike shouldn't even cost as much as your carbon wheels

I have used normal carbon pads on alu rims for ages no problems what so ever. I cant be asked to swop pads out from race wheels to training wheels.

I give the pads a quick sand with a rough sand paper before putting my race wheels in and it has worked perfectly.

Braking power is very slightly reduced with carbon pads on alu rims.

And with today's rim brakes, stopping power will be great either way.

This is one area where disk bike have a definate advantage
