the fire is starting to flare around the N2 again and also Vergelegen is well and truly on fire.

am outta here to go help at SLP (Sir lowries pass village)

if I eat two bar ones will i get a 50 hr day ?

yippee.

Off the meeting hook, have to be back at 15H00 to take daughter to Fand's daughters birthday party.

off to help at SLP.

coffee, bar one and a berocca boost, sommer all at once.

EDIT: would two myprodols and an anti inflam for my back be considered out of competition testing ? Cause then I would need a TUE quick quick. :whistling:

Spent the last 45 mins reading every post. Tragic, and heartwarming at the same time. To see the tragic loss of property, infrastructure(?), and more to the stories of work done by volunteers and others.

BTW, it's 25 hours for one Bar-one, therefore 25-24=1. Two Bar-ones would give you 26 hours [emoji3]

Weather is not playing along at all!!

The fire is creeping around in the mountains in small patches. Very inaccessible areas. The choppers wont water drop as it is to risky and with this wind no visibility. But NHW has stood down now. Will go support Mr Kobus Wiese & Louresnford (SANDF puma choopers dont come cheap and there were 2 flying around around !) and buy a little bottle of something a bit later with a cuppa coffee.

And also another fire in Stanford is starting to look like a serious one.

Well today is office day. Have to try and get two business ventures of the ground.

Have a good one guys.

This fire, while not threatening any sturctures, is far from over. It has flared up again in the kloofs with these high winds. Couples with the fact that where it is now burning has not burnt in a very very long time means that there is lots of fuel to burn. If it continues to cross over the mtns, and into the top end of jonkers and hottentots holland nature reserve (boland mtns) things become serious again.

The chief at Louresnford said upwards of 6500 ha is lost. Most of the wine farm has lost at least 40% of their vineyards.

Man this is crazy.

EDIT: photo 1 that is most of the base of the mtn burnt. Will post another pic from Sir Lowry's.

Camera has a terrible zoom but wanted to show how high the fire is

You can see the fire from the base of the n2 at Sir Lowries pass all the way to Lourensford :(

The fire on this side of the N2 was a few weeks ago. I reckon the it made a fire break and saved even more damage as the fore moved up the n2.

Hope the leopards got out safe. There are still patches of vegetation around - but now food becomes a problem for them and so they will move into other territories.

Bar Wednesday, we have strong SE predicted for the next 10 days. They should rather kill this fire on the day that the winds are quiet, before it gets to Franschhoek, where it has the potential to cause more havoc.
