thanks eddy - but becuase it is now well into the big wine farms they have their own teams and stuff. VWS are also there. The only worry now is the evening wind and the smoke with all the horses at louresnford from SLP. This time though everyone is waiting with their horse boxes and it is alot more organised

Get some rest now..

a very uneventful night, other than all the smoke.

looks like it is going to be a hard day for the guys and gals out there.

Mrs Slowbee is chaining me to the desk. Need to transfer pile A to pile B, with some number 13's in between.

have a good one guys.

I'd like to be able to put into words the selfless work that you and the others have done. But I can't.

I'm pleased there are people like you around.

Apparently there's a fire in Genadendal too. Cape Nature says that if there's another one, they won't have anyone to send out. But, rain predicted out there this afternoon. If nothing else, this cloud will drop the temps a bit. Any respite is welcome

gives you an idea of the how stretched all the resources are.

List of fire areas:

Ceres

Du Toits Kloof

(includes others areas of the Haweqwa Mtns)

Stellenbosch areas

Helderberg Basin

Grabouw

EDIT: Bettys Bay

and now (as said above) a major fire starting to develop in Genadendal.

Obviously the circle sizes change as you zoom in on the active map. It is also dependent on when updated.

If you are more curious about this kinda stuff and all the fires currently raging in SA (and broader) here is the sight for you. Play around with some of the features, they are rather awesome.

I was at Boskloof yesterday helping out. But I wasn't a whole lot of use as it was already under control. The work by the fire teams and the helicopters was very impressive. While there I unloaded a Bakkie full of water fruit chips etc from the community. They had organized them into packs for teams of five and there was plenty to go around. I saw the picture of the pile at the church where it was being stored and there is a staggering amount. Seeing the community come together like that for these guys was quite heartwarming.
