Where will the world cup be held in SA? Had a chuckle when commentator asked if the conditions in SA are mostly muddy like that. They should have the race in Upington. Trick will be who can finish the race before dehydration

Not sure, but if it's anything like today, Ryan Sandes should enter.

I have just watched the ladies race.. (set record before we went riding). these people are nuts.. that mud in that cold... damn some impressive skills not to kill yourself.

Vos on a different planet..

I too am puzzled by today's races. More like hike-a-bike world champs. And the course being only 2,7km with an hour's racing. Not making any sense. Very little actual bike skills, more running skills at camber in the mud

I'm struggling to enjoy this biathlon.

duathlon. there are bicycles and no swimming ;)

I was wondering whether the bike you "use" should actually be ride-able. If you can take the lightest legal bike that you can hook over a shoulder and hit the track with proper running shoes...

That said, roughly 24 km per hour for an hour of running on that terrain!  :w00t:

That is 2 min 30 per kilometer,or a pace equivalent to a 5km run at 12 min 30 secs!

You do get a running/cycling duathlon....

Anyway, yeah some crazy average speeds. But I prefer watching some proper bike riding skills - stairs, hurdles, bridges, etc. Not just running in the mud
