Has anyone ever run this combination?

The X1RD is listed as up to 42t.

Currently running 32tx11-42 but want to got 34tx11-46 for best of both worlds.

I was also running a 32t chainring with a 11-42 cassette and have just changed to a 30t chainring with a 10-42 cassette.  I now have almost the same top end as a 34 x 11 (1km/h slower at same cadence) but a better climbing gear than a 32 x 44.

yes, it's compatible. May need a longer B screw, but the X1 RD can take the 11-46 quite easily.

Yes it should be fine, I'm running a 45t. I have heard the max is 49t.

If you haven't done it already I'd rather go for an elliptical ring up front - mght save you needing to replace the cluster.

A 34t elliptical would give you the top end you're looking for but it would climb about the same as the current 32t ring.

I ride with an Oval ring and I am sorry but that is marketing BS.  The Oval ring does give you a nice smooth pedal stroke which I do believe helps on loose technical climbs but a 32 tooth Oval ring cannot give you the same top end as a 34 tooth round ring.
