Berto's luck should turn eventually.

Form is looking good.. as it did last year.. he just needs to keep the rubber side down.

Yah, De La Cruz didn't earn himself any friends today, in my opinion very negative racing from QST.

But you cant keep 'Berto down, always respectful and positive, and he earned a lot more respect and friends on the road today,it would have been a boring snore fest crawl through the stage today had he not been there.

Did you expect De la Cruz to just hand Contador the victory?

Of course not and he didn't, however in my opinion he raced negatively, had he worked with 'Berto they could have both benefited.

"When I went in the break, I knew Alberto would try, he always go to the end. I had to suffer a lot on his wheel but I was able to manage. When I saw they weren’t catching us, I tried to ride carefully to win the stage.”

“I’d like to dedicate this victory to the team, the staff, and the mechanics, but especially to Dave Brailsford. He was always there when I needed him. He was there when I was injured when I crashed several years ago and my knee was destroyed. He always supported me, and he never gave up on me.”

Why should he work with 'Berto though? They're not teammates. He only has his own interests to look after and he rode smartly. He knew Contador would have to go full pelt and he knew he would burn out. It's just clever racing and it got him the win. I'd have done the exact same.

Sergio really rode well yesterday, did you see how long he pulled in the front of the chasing group once he had not team mates left?

Not taking anything away from El Berto's performance either, that was great to see But wasn't de la Cruz 'entitled' to sand bag him in the break and snatch the win given that team leader Dan the Man was in the chasing group and going for the podium?

The disappointment on Alberto's face was so clear in those close-up shots

Alberto is a true champ !!! When he is gone I don't think ill watch a lot of cycling... he will be surely missed !
