Saddle issues

Is there perhaps anyone that know of someone who does saddle restoration? I got a nasty tear in mine and was wondering if it would work out cheaper to have it re-covered or get a new one?

 

In any area around Blouberg or Bellville if possible

Which saddle you have?  Will probably be cheaper to replace.

Ah its just a basic Scott saddle, but I just wondered since I am already used to this one

Else take your saddle to your LBS and ask if they can source same make and model

I also have a couple of saddles just laying around with scuff marks and small slids... seems a shame to be throwing them away. (Prologo Kappa 2, Q-BIK etc)

There is a very good saddle re-upholsterer in your neck of the woods.

But for your saddle, just buy a new one as this guy only starts at R700.00 per saddle.

Velobrian, Salt River.  They have done three of my Rolls saddles.  Excellent job.

I certainly can recommend them but not the price.

I also had a saddle redone for a show bike (fake snake skin)

went to a guy who normally makes leather and latex clothes

he had the right materials, tools and glue. biggest issue was the foam padding , finding right density and thickness as the old one was glued on and broke when removed.

I remember being charged about 250 Rand but it's 20 years ago...
