Just ridden the road and at the turn-off after Fox Hill the road is horrendous.

Ride in the middle of the road and beware of the road works,  Some potholes will damage wheels.

Best of luck in the race.

the roads are not good at all. The stretch between Inchanga and Botha's Hill is bad, some hectic bumps in there. I hope they start patching things up.

With Rainbow Chickens no longer, I assume the stench is also gone. I haven't been that way lately, so I do not know. (I still feel sad for the folks who were laid off. I knew a few with 20+ years service there).  The road down that stretch was bad last year already. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yes, that section too.  Forgot to mention this section with the BAD holes in the road,

Still have some time to "patch-up".

Hey guys, we know about the bad road and we are on it! We had our first City meetings last week and are in touch with the various departments. Hopefully you will notice an improvement soon. See you in October and good luck with your training.

Great news as there is plenty repair work to be done.

Still time though.

Thinking of riding from Cato Ridge to Durbs this year, might ride from Maritzburg again though, will see.

Do the shorter one, less chaos and better roads .........

Hi

I am on cycle events about to enter. I have chosen the 106km.

In terms of category, what is the difference between CSA Lic xxx option and Open/Seeded option? I have Cycling SA Membership but not a racing license.

Thanks

A membership holder is entitled to enter any event, irrespective of discipline, without having to purchase a day license. A member is allowed to participate in a national series event, but will not be eligible for national or provincial selection. A membership of Cycling SA is the most basic form of license and is an agreement of the rider to abide by the rules of the event in which they participate.

RACING LICENCE

This category of license is for riders from the age of 17 years old who wish to be eligible for provincial and national selection and respective colours award. The bearer of a full license is entitled to partake in national championship or series race and be seeded accordingly. Those of who race in the UCI categories (Junior, U23 and Elite) earn UCI points which will assist them in being seeded at future UCI category events, world cups and championships. The cost of a full racing license is R400 per year, and the applicant has to be member of an affiliated club, as well as be a registered member of Cycling SA.

Hi guys... just wanted to put this out there as I made a very delayed decision to ride the race this year...

Unfortunately I didn't register before the online entries closed so I will need to start with the last batch if I do a late entry. However, I was told that I could substitute with someone already registered and seeded, so if there's anyone that decides not to race, please get in touch with me. I'll be happy to cover whatever costs there are for a substitution and pay back your entry fee.

Much appreciated.
