Is this an OD2 fork/frame??

The frames are standard taper, it's the fork steerer that is OD2 with bearings in the frame to fit.

OD2 was dropped from the 2015 models onwards. That stem might be OD2 so take it off and see if it's fitted with a shim which will mean it's fitted on a standard taper fork steerer. I'f there is no shim then try the stem on a fork that you know is standard taper and if too big then the fork is OD2

Its most likely OD2, the anthem dropped the standard in 2014 and the trance held on to it for another year afterwards.

Looking at the fork the timing looks about right to be OD2.

Watse Goed?

Santa Cruz owners won't understand  :devil:  :P  :D  :lol:

Giant uses the Overdrive system and claim the front end is stiffer than any other.

  1. 1 1/4-inch top bearing
  2. 1 ½-inch bottom bearing
  3. 1 1/4 –inch stem
  4. Tapered steerer-tube
  5. Custom OverDrive 2 expansion wedge

I like to chop and change bikes

I owned 4 carbon Giant TCR road bikes in the past.

Two of them were Overdrive 2 models. (One was a SL carbon model ISP with OD2)

The ones with OD2 were for sure stiffer on the frond than the non OD2 models.

Down side : OD2 stems are not that commonly available.

To be honnest I am not that sure if one will be able to feel the difference in stiffness on a mtb with a shock at the front...

:thumbup:

I also forgot to add new headset spacers in the colour of your choice.

One of my happiest days was getting rid of that Overdrive fork on my XTC that I used to have, that was a great bike... I do miss it.

Oh, for those that don't know: OD is 1 1/4"x1 1 1/8 and OD2 is 1 1/2x1 1/4"

(I might be wrong-please correct me if so)

Correction, the lower diameter on both OD & OD2 is the same 1.5"(1 1/2"). The only difference is the upper diameter:

OD= 1.125"(1 1/8")

OD2=1.25"(1 1/4")
