BaGearA Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 people who don't believe in In oval chainrings also don't believe in CVT gearboxxes must be magic changing the ratios
DieselnDust Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Not the same from any perspective but I can see why it's a belief thingy and not an engineery thingy

Eldron Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 For me it makes no difference, then again, I don`t ride with a chain. How do you know if someone rides chainless and brakeless?

HOEKVLAG Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 I've got this one friend who's tried everything to get faster. About a year and a half ago he changed to an oval chainring and he believed it made a huge difference in his riding - although I didn't notice a significant change and we had to wait for him a couple of times during rides. About two months ago he got a smart trainer, joined Zwift and trains at least 3 times a week - without counting long weekend rides. Suddenly he's one of the stronger riders in the group. Training will trump chainring shape every time - enjoy what you're riding!
DieselnDust Posted September 4, 2018 Posted September 4, 2018 Eich !! shape has everything to do with it - the distance to the fulcrum changes ALL the time with an oval and that determines the effort neededAll you are feeling is additional chain tension. The gearijg remains the same. The rest of the chain doesn’t magically disappear, it’s still connected to the chainring at points of smaller diameter. It just feels different
