Guys just a word of precaution,

Friday the 31st March my wife and i took out the bike from blue the bridge at M4 to Ushaka and back in both direction we were tailed by a guy on a mountain bike, slowing down he did the same, speeding up he did the same. At one point directly next to the wife he was eyeing out her Merida whilst on the phone. At this point we thought something was up just before bike and bean we slowed down to the point that he had to stop just in front of bike and bean and he kept turning to see where we were. We decided to give him the dodge while he was looking away we went on the main road towards blue lagoon. At the last circle by the blue lagoon bridge was a silver polo parked withing the circle facing the direction we were coming i suspected something was up and decided to go under the first bridge and not the one by the river side. We got onto the top of the bridge to go over the river towards hyper and low and behold the silver polo with 2 b/males drive past passenger window open and passenger with his arm out the window pointing to us on the bridge as they drove past.

They turned at the next off ramp and disappeared. We managed to give them the slip. But for safety sake please be aware of this tactic were another person on a bike admires and informs position and possible value of what can be obtained.

Be aware of your surroundings they may look normal and in this case was a very clever method.

This whole area seems to be hotting up again.  The bridge is a no-no at present as I know of two incidents last week.

I actually think it is safer to cross the river on the road and then veer left at the end of it.

Ride in a bunch and if you are at the back of the bunch you are at more risk.

This is scary.. Good thinking guys , glad you are safe. Even if it wasn't what you thought its better safe then sorry. I ride this area often so will be very careful to look out for this

It's sick. We have to be locked in our homes with burglar bars, trelli doors, armed response etc. and now we can't even take the chance to ride our bikes where we want to or go riding alone.

What a sick and sad time to be living in SA

Durban is my favourite city in the world and I often think about how much I miss it. But sometimes when my daughter and I ride through the forest here in Northern Ireland in the early evening without security even entering our minds, then I feel that we made the right decision to move. I'll never be settled here and will miss SA always, but I do see the benefits of the move.

Being part of our CPF we now hear of multiple armed daytime robberies and break ins. Outdoor security device are stolen or rendered useless where after a break in is immanent. Or alarms are set off to test response or until disabled.

Currently 2 per week just in our neighbourhood is a minimum. There is no prejudice either as it seems it is everywhere according to statistics.

This is getting bad.  This morning when my riding buddies bailed because of "too much wind", I made the decision not to ride alone.  Sad!

Hell, but it was blowing this morning ...

There was no queue for coffee at Ushaka  Everyone stayed in Bed !!
