Need to revisit that ad haha Rather invest in a new helmet.At least you'll know it's never been crashed or damaged.You know they say a helmet is like a parachute...if it's not there when you need it...

HowardSteele Posted April 12, 2017 Posted April 12, 2017 The secret is to get out there with what you have and have fun ...learn the difference between,component efficiency,some well priced components work as well as upgrades costing 5x as much. I personally ...go wheels turning easily,brakes stopping the bike efficiently and shifters and gears all running smoothly before weight. Enjoy the journey i predict a couple of upgrades in your future.
FrikkieMeyer87 Posted April 16, 2017 Author Posted April 16, 2017 You will all be very happy to learn that yesterday afternoon I went for a 5km ride wearing a helmet, proper cycling jersey, padded mtb shorts, and proper mtb shoes clipped firmly to my bike's existing cleat pedals Needless to say, I've been poaching off the classifieds like a madman the past few days haha

Next I need to look out for a decent seat/saddle since this one is stuffed (foam poking out), and then if I find a 3x9 groupset for a steal I might just nick that too so that I can fit different shifters which will allow me to gooi some entry level hydraulics on there. Looking at the classifieds I should be able to get that done for under a grand. Hahahaha yeah I got that news when I bought it, then again later from a buddy of mine. The first time I rode with it I wore underwear and it was not so lekker, then last night I went commando and it was way better. You learn something new every day

Longer than my last road ride, but still VERY short in comparison to the rides the rest of the guys did. But it was a load of fun, I can't wait to get back there! But first I've got a mountain of upgrades that needs to go onto that bike. V-brakes are not so kief in the technical single track sections.
