yea it's a bit dodgy those turns. Especially after you have been hammering it at high speed for the last part .

The 1st climb will split up the bunches ...if I remember it's the one into pinetown I think ??

Looking forward to if the dreaded lurgi has gone by then . Fingers crossed.

Of the few races I have done (mostly the big events) this is my favorite one.

Jacobs Ladder?

The first 2km of the M7 climb is what you have to worry about, it's make a break here.

After this, there's actually a few smaller rollers to help you recover a bit before the final bump up into Pinetown.

Here's the 2Km section relative to the rest of the route...

Knowing how many matches you have, plus how long you you can burn each one, helps. No use burning them all on the M7 and having nothing for the few undulations after Umhlanga, but no point saving them for the M4 if you aren't in the bunch come the M19.

Great ride out there,

Results up on racetec

Was perfect conditions for racing. Those metal barriers near the finish were a tad dangerous, the person in front of me clipped one. Had to slam brakes and lost the bunch as a result.

Edit: My terrible spelling

It was my first Tour Durban- BL start. I didnt expect the hill on the M7 at about +-12km to be so torturous, lost the bunch right thereafter I had to climb on and off the passing buses. Wonderful well organized race.
