In what aspect?

Potential hazards as follows)

1) die of boredom getting to the nek, and back

2) being ridden over by ds motorcycle

3) going too fast down to the shebeen and falling

Other than those, its as safe as it gets.

When you say Double Breedts do you mean from ( say) Hekpoort to the top and back twice or ride to the climb and do that twice before going back ?

No doubt the best place to train for long stretches and contious climbing up here in gauteng.

I hear there is a new climb on day 2 of sani. Excited to see what all the hype is about

Fun gaalens to shebeen, back over turn around at the bottom and one more stop at the shebeen drink a zamaleg and back to FUNGAALENS

That's what we used to use as a good indicator of how the legs were feeling

Ah, so a drag there, 4 hills and a drag back. Will give it a bash at the end of winter.

BUT, going up the south side of the climb last week, the raod was as bad after the summer rains as I had ever seen the side down towards the shebeen before.

I shudder to think what that side is now.

It's a great ride, scenic and you can up the pace of you want. In terms of safety, I ride once a month from the new Total at bottom of hekpoort hill

....... to the top of breedts nek, over to the shebeen and all the way back to the Total garage. Safe parking, food, toilets etc. and 70km.

No issues but don't ride alone!
