Hi guys

Looking at getting some some leg protection for those early cold mornings.  I have never used owned either of the above and really suffered through my first cycling winter last year.  Looking at getting some protection this year.

I am considering the following options

https://www.buycycle.co.za/shop-by-brand/a-d/anatomic/anatomic-platinum-gel-bib-short-clone/
https://www.buycycle.co.za/newsletter/anatomic-anti-freeze-leg-warmers-black/
https://www.buycycle.co.za/newsletter/northwave-evo-leg-warmers-black/

The price on the Northwave leg warmers is very appealing.

Anyone have experience between tights vs leg warmers vs full length bibs regarding to warmth?

Thanks

I can't get my head around paying for full length bibs that I'll only use for a couple of weeks a year. I used to use leg warmers, which was fine. When I needed some new ones for commuting last year, I couldn't find anything I liked, so ended up with tights. I think I'll stick with tights

Buy leg warmers.

Only wear tights if you are wanting to impersonate the 1993 Mel Brooks film!

Full length Bibs are a commitment, you can only use them when it's cold. Normal leg warmers do a good job for even the coldest JHB morning.

As long as its black on black, tights are okay for me...

No funky 80s stuff

The Northwave leg warmers feel like good quality. Got a pair last week but haven't used them yet, will give them a go this week in Jozi.

I've got knickers and full length

Both fleeced

Fantastic if you're definitely gonna spend lots of miles at 5 degrees or less

Otherwise, leg warmers are an excellent option for the average South African

When the temp rises, they can be peeled off

+1 for leg warmers especially for areas that warm up allowing you to take them off.

Tights are fine for where it remains cold or for evening rides where it gets colder.

That is good to hear.  Had some really cheap leg warmers from China.  They were extremely thin,  some of my leg hair got though the super thin material

I prefer the leg warmers. Got a great black pair that I only use for about two months of the year.

Quick 'fashion' question......should your leg warmers be the same colour as your arm warmers? This is seriaaas stuff...

No of course not, as long as they are both black ????

I have Garneau and Northwave, I prefer the Northwave as they (for me) are warmer and sit comfortable.

Full length bib with fleece lining for the win. First ascent leg warmers are pretty useless for cold mornings.

Has Any one tried or have the Assos s7 leg warmers. They seem to come up higher and have extra padding in the knees. I know they costly, but when you freezing ( or just soft ????) then you would take them at that point .

Yes, have a pair. They are great. Come up nice and high on the sides. Are also tailored from multi panels for a great fit, out Team kit is just a long single tube :(

Never been cold in the Assos ones even on Stelvio in the snow at -10....
