Suspension and long periods of standing still

Hy guys.

I was not sure about the title but basically I want to buy a bike, a full sus. It will only be ridden like 10 times a year. Will the suspension and dropper be okay for use after "doing nothing". I realise the tires will deflate but other than that will there be any damage or service costs?

Thanks!

Dropper should be fine if it was "stored" fully extended aka not dropped. As for the suspension, it should still be ok. Flipping the bike upside down for a few minutes to have the oil replenish the dust wipers should be adiquite enough. Maybe have the bike assessed by an LBS just to be sure...

Rubber hardens and perishes over time, so just keep an eye on the wipers. Wash the bike and apply something like Brunox Fork Deo to the stanchions and seals before you pack it away, and drop the lowers once a year to see what's going on in there.

Other than that I can't see too much of an issue.

I'm guessing this is a N+1 option? What do you normally ride?

My "current" bike is a rigid hard tail. We have moved to Kuwait for a few years and will spend short holidays in SA. There is no space in our flat here for a bike so not riding at all atm. I am just wondering if I should scratch this itch now or wait till we are back in SA and just ride the hardtail while we are there.

No space for a bike. That's a defeatist attitude.

Get yourself a 6fattie and join the Desert Biking Club. The terrain is about as exciting as watching paint dry, but you'll see a lot more of the place than you would on your average commute.

You don't need a fatty for this place. A 2.3 tire would do. Yea I suppose if I keep it in a bike bag under the bed it could work. This place is really poef small.

You haven't hit the sand yet then. 6fattie will help when you do - I was running 2.4 at about 1.6 and still sank.
