Over the last 25 years mountain-biking have been, as for many of us, on the top of my list of things to do on a weekend.

But as I am getting older, combing my riding with a good wine tasting is getting more and more important. I tend to schedule rides mainly around a spots were I know there will be good wine, beer and food. Not talking about getting ge-Mot...that's not the idea...

Maybe you guys can share on good places (bars, restaurants or farms) to go riding and have a good time with the wife and rugrats...

My two favourite spots must be Boschendal Wine estate/trails in Stellenbosch and Doolhof wines (Welvanpas mtb trail) Wellington,

Boschendal trails is just getting beter and with the Delhi/ excellent wines (and craft beer) makes it to the top of my list of places to go ride.

Welvanpas is one of the hardest but most scenic routes around and the wines at Doolhof, is just amazing after a hard day in the saddle...(Bosman's Wines and other incl)

Best place to go for lunch after a ride at Welvanpas must be Oude Wellington Restuarant

What make your wheel turn...

Ok let's expand this theme to areas that don't have the luxury of vineyards and the like! Up here in JHB our favourite annual MTB ride is the Gilroy's Brewery ride! We meet at Broadacres shopping centre Fourways and ride a surf n turf ride around the Cradle all the way to Muldersdrift and finish off at Gilroy's Brewery on the M34! Our wives and girlfriends meet up with us for lunch , beer and a bottle or 3 of vino! Live music normally gets us all tapping and dancing until sundown! Recommendable to all who love to earn their beers with a ride culminating in a festive social!

The Ale House in broederstroom is a great place to stop after a MTB ride at Van Gaalens kaasmakerij.

The ales and especially the well known Boegoe Ales is top notch. The Pizza served is really something special, with products from the local butcheries and farms used.

We have often parked at the Ale house, and rode to Van Gaalens from there and back.
