Unrelated but the roads are definitely less safe than a few years ago.

We use to worry about people speaking on the phone while driving but now you pass a car and the driver is browsing and typing on the phone on his/her lap. We saw the first signs of a crisis when the phones started popped out in a restaurant even among company but now checking social media and the news has become such an obsessive need that people cannot leave the phone alone even when driving.

Holy crap... must make sure wife NEVER sees this post or bikes will be sold.

Glad it was your arm and not your face, swift recovery!

Wife told me Mountain biking or NO biking....

That helmet DID its job !!

Keep it ... few months down the line it will be a "nice" braai-fire-story ...

sorry about your bike.  Hope it was insured.

What brand helmet is that ... some like Bell have a crash replacement policy whereby they give you a sizable discount on your next Bell helmet.

AJoub,

Will you fully recover?

Hope so

Yes will make full recovery, tendon in my arm will need time healing and I have a small fracture in my wrist but nothing that will sideline me for too long. Thank you

Spaz also do something similar to Bell RE crash replacement ... at least this was part of the sales pitch as I recall it when I bought my Spaz lid.

Never mind braai-fire-story, please keep it for the next time that the merits of wearing helmets are debated on this forum!

Just came down Old Oak road over the N1.

The road works is moving the road markers to get ready for the demolition of the West side bridge this weekend.  Traffic in both directions will now be over the ONE bridge, with hardly a line of paint separating the traffic going North and South ..... NO, and I mean absolutely NO space for cyclists !!!

Coming from Durbanville rather head down Bill Zuidenhout, then Suikerbossie to get back to Old Oak.  Very slight detour for a lot of extra safety.

OR, over the weekend, come straight down Durban road, over the N1 (would not recommend that with week day traffic), then East along Raglanstreet over Bill Bezuidenhout, past Bellville high school.  Right at the T-juction to Old Paarl, then left until you get to Old Oak.  This is my afternoon commute route - to miss the mess over Old Oak/N1.  NOTE - you WILL encounter thorns along this route !
