VERY easy to prove it if you really want to. DNA test.

How does a DNA test prove that you did not dope?

Because they can match up the samples with the blood doping products found in Spain.

This is what the whole fuss is about.

wow..someone got out the bed on the wrong side.

I'm not running you down just saying that you should comment on all the stuff someone mentiones and not just what suits you (like the media does).

All the info I am putting forward comes from information supplied by the team, UCI and Spanish  / German authorities.

I don't trust the media any more than you do.Wink

Let's put the brakes on a little.

There has been no "requirement" for anybody to take a DNA test, although it has been suggested that those implicated in "Operacion Puerto" could do their cases good service (ASSUMING that they are innocent), by submitting to DNA testing.

Now comes the tricky bit.  Neither Ullrich nor Basso have been formally charged as a result of OP.  In the absence of a formal charge, why should they submit to a non-mandatory test?  There is also a chance that a non-mandatory test could produce a false positive.  In other words, by submitting to a DNA test at this stage, Ullrich, Basso et al. run a (very tiny) risk of looking guilty even if they are innocent.

There's another bit of trickiness.  I have read that red blood cells do not contain DNA, and that the bags found at the good Dr Fuentes's rooms was red cells only.  If both of these things are true then DNA testing would not prove anything anyway.  I have my doubts - even if red blood cells are DNA-free I would expect the separating process to leave behind traces of other blood products which do contain DNA .  Anybody know for sure?

Oops... I've been brainwashed by Paul Sherwin...

2005 Tour de France... the number of times that Paul referred to Ullrich as a diesel engine -> 5927 (give or take a few) LOL

I thought Paul's stock favourite was "beast of a man"....

And well done on hijacking the thread - get your own thread!!

It's very simple: once a cyclist has been found guilty of doping, he is dirty.  Until then, he is clean.

Suspicions that somebody is "too fast" does not make them dirty (Morning Mr Armstrong!), and a deeply held conviction that somebody is just too nice a guy to dope doesn't make them clean (yes, Tyler, I do mean you).
