silversonic Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Stolen: Orbea Occam 29 2015When: 13 May 2017Where: Stellenbosch, Western CapeBike was chained to tree 1.5m outside Paul Bothner shop entrance in Merriman Street at +-10:40AM. Did check on it once whilst in the shop (& removed water-bottle), but when guitar was done 15 mins later it was gone. Motorist eyewitness came running, and we both tried to find the two perps (one being lifted on handlebar) but to no avail. (They turned left into Bird Street ie. toward 'Die Braak') but lost them due to traffic. Detective Constable Bangily can be contacted on (021) 809-9140 / 42 with any further lead info. Cloetesville Police Station has also been notified, together with Stellenbosch Watch and all major shopping centres, bike shops & 2nd hand shops.Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section

openmind Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 You can't use anything other than a good quality U-lock to lock a bike up in Stellies these days. There are guys walking around in pairs with bolt cutters all times of day and night. First one cuts the chain/cable lock and runs, second one grabs the bike. My wife's bike was stolen like this recently. I just take my bike into shops etc. now instead of risking it.

When the thief brought the bike to the main guy he tuned give the Orbea back...hence they found the bike. ???? ***if someone is offended by this please kick yourself in the face...it's a joke.
