Anyone up for showing a Brit round Tokai?

Hi  - I"m hoping to get up to Tokai for a day's riding this week - Tues, Weds or Thurs but I'm not local and have no idea where I'm going.

I'm only here on a work trip for a few days. But I've got my full suss, I've got my legs, I've got the enthusiasm - if anyone wants to join a 41-yr old man who doesn't mind a berm, a drop, some rocks or even a modest jump and is happy to ride all day, please let me know. Lunch and beers on me.

Thanks folks

You might have said the magic words!

Good luck with finding a suitable guide.

Hi Tim - welcome. There is a problem with your plan - Tokai is only open on weekends at the moment (long painful story). Your best bet is Table Mountain or the Green belt areas that adjoin it. They are signposted and a google should get you some form of map. Enjoy!

Sorry but tokai is not open during the week. You might want to head out to Contermans Kloof or to Helderberg Farm or even Jonkershoek. If you looking for something more gravity orientated.

Otherwise Bloemendal or Hoogekraal should bring a smile to you face.

I showed an American around Tokai a couple of weeks back. Some guy from Colorado.

Thing is though. I could not keep up with him. It made showing him around hard to do.

Small talk was in short supply too. I opted for panting instead.

Was that the dude on the Spez?

Unfortunately Tokai is a weekend thang at the moment but I've got a quiet week this week so if you want a guide for some of the other trails around then give me a shout and we'll load the bikes in the ute and go for a spin!

Aweh. Mooi sled. He brought it over ya. 26 stumpy. Plastic head to toe. It was a late saturday afternoon. I got to the gate and Marko was trying to explain the route to him via the map.

Its good I showed up when I did though. We got you later on somewhere up there.

Was a short but lekker ride. Bombed the DH lines and called it a day. He was stoked because he did not expect Tokai to be that 'featuresque'

Hello mate - that's really kind, I appreciate it. As it happens, the friend I'm staying with has re-discovered his balls and decided to ride with me. We're off to Contermanskloof tomorrow morning - you're welcome to join us. email me at timnwildATgmailDOTcom if you fancy it. And thanks again.

You have no idea how happy I was to see you roll up, allowing me to stop a really, really bad explanation of the route and giving me the opportunity to escape after dropping him on you. He was a nice guy but I was just confusing him with my attempts at helping him.

I seem to remember it working out well for you on the climb though  :D

Haha! Ride with us next time!

Oh and sorry I can't make the weekend's build. I'll be there for the next one.
