Step above EBH, EBH is good, but very overrated off 3 results early in his career and will never be upfront in key mountain stages or a 3 week Tour. 

 

Fuglsang is a podium contendor, he has battled with some issues since 2011 - 2014 but his 2010 form which he seems to be carrying now, is a podium at the Tour. His pedigree is very deep.

 

Only problem comes in with Astana now is if they go into the Tour with 2 leaders being Fuglesang and Aru. They had said Fuglesang gets Tour based off last years results and Aru Giro but that never happend. I still think Aru should be super Dom and then get same from Fuglesang at Vuelta.

1 bad day on a stage 4 weeks before the Tour doesn't mean anything 2 weeks into a GT. Contador always gets better as the Tour goes on, however this doesn't mean he will run away with it. 

 

Your would then need to say that Bardet, Valverde and Chavez need to throw the towel in as well as they were with or behind on the climb.

 

Contador also had made contacted with Naesem on the decent and both nearly went down, thats why they were both off of the Valverde group. Naesem had Bardet with Valverde, so he would never work.

He won the Vuelta in 14 Giro in 2015 and was 5th at the Tour same year being totally over cooked trying the double. His season to date has been very good and beating many of his competition at this Tour to date.

 

Not sure how that is failing? He is a threat at any GT he enters to date and the best GT racer of his generation and beyond.

Both Valverde and 'Berto will have the challenge of recovery as they are deeper into the 30s.

 

Hope Contador's team can step up and protect him well. Movistar is superb as long as they're clear with their strategy wrt Quintana / Valverde

For sure, to me as long as their is mind-blowing exciting racing Im all for it. I want to see gutters, long range attacks, okes to attack and either make it last or vomit on the side seeing smurfs. over this procession and a slow motion sprint thingy at the Tour the last few years.
