Just a feeler as I'm thinking of combining my 2 rides into one 'do it all' bike and not too sure what prices I'm looking at for my current stable. Kinda don't need 2 awesome dual sus' fun machines as I just get confused about which one I should be riding.

#1: Transition Smuggler: 29'r, M, 2016. Comes with new 1 x 11sp XT gears / SLX shifter / cassette / chain and the last generation SLX crank & brakes. RS Pike @ 140mm & RS Debonaire rear can. Spank Oozy Trail wheels. Giant Connect 125mm Dropper (less than year old), charge saddle, vans grips and Rapide / KCNC cockpit.
Condition: Frame - excellent (apart from a chain scuff on the stay it's the frame is showroom). Everything else: Very good (Forks have some rub but no scars or scratches. stanchions Perfect).

#2: Commencal Meta V4 AM: 650b, 2016, M. Comes with new GX 1 x 11sp gears / cassette / shifter / chain and last generation SLX crank & Deore brakes. Manitou Mattoc @ 160mm (less than 30 hrs) & Debonaire can (150mm). Easton Arc 30's (4 rides old) build into Deore hubs. Lyne dropper, deity grips and On-one El Guapo bar n' stem.

Condition: Frame - Good (few rubs and scratches from use. No dents, dings). Everything else: excellent.

So brains trust... what do you think the market would dictate? Worth selling together or breaking down and selling off?

To be brutally honest I don't know if it's worth your while to do this.  Let's say you get R70k-R80k out of this.  What would you buy that's better than what you already own?

If it's more a case of too many bikes (shock horror!) well then sell the one you can live without and go ride the other one in the Alps for two weeks with that money.

What they worth and what someone is willing to pay are two very different numbers. The current financial market and what is available second hand are not helping your situation either.

About R30k -R35k each?

I don't know man.  Those are two great bikes, but there are some insane bikes on the classifieds for not much more so it's stiff competition.  E.g. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/255419-specialized-enduro-650b/

Not to derail this thread, but what would replace them with, seeing as they are both quite versatile, or do you have the inside scoop on the Santa Cruz contest ;)

Yeah... I'm going all in and backing myself to pick up that prize! Going big and believing that it's mine! :)

It is tough as there are a lot of good bikes out there on the market and and I've seen awesome bikes at good prices just hanging about. So as you say, is it really worth it.

My actual aim was to reduce bikes, build my ideal Meta V4.2 with Eagle GX / Ohlins / Code and some killer rims / hubs. Then use anything left towards a trip overseas... starting in Andorra and moving up to the Alps.

No really need to sell though, just seems a bit of a waste to have both bikes as they are pretty similar in their trail / railing-down-things orientation... but that's not really a hardship. ;)

That's always the case for any second hand market. I've sold enough bike and bought enough bike to know that, especially here. Unfortunately if I put the title 'what will you pay' then there would have been a flurry of 'move it to the classifieds' chirps.

Reason I asked is precisely that. I know that they would cost to replace and what they are insured for but I don't know what the market is going to go with. So some thoughts and some knowledge is being called on to see if it's viable.

Why the SLX cranks?

They have been faultless and to be honest if I've never thought about a crank in the the entire time I've had them then they are doing okay in my book. They are stiff, they turn and haven't rubbed off a bit.

If I keep either I'll probably swap them out as they are a bit out of place now but for the coin I'd spend for no real reason I'd rather upgrade the Pike to a Luffekape.

No man, I don't see your problem...

A little game of eenie, meenie, miney. mo! and you're set!

Don't complicate things with nonsense like "I should of kept the other one" or "Just one more ride, is all I'll ever ask from you" on a night like this.......-
