Despite been suspended for non compliance, nothing was done to address the issues and now we have permanently lost accreditation.

The only anti-doping laboratory in Africa, stationed in Bloemfontein, has been stripped of its accreditation.

According to a statement released by the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada), the testing centre lost its rights to monitor the use of prohibited substances in sport due to noncompliance with international standards.

The laboratory was suspended for five months in May last year, and its temporary ban was later extended.

In its latest assessment, Wada’s laboratory expert group found the testing centre had not satisfactorily addressed outstanding nonconformities, and the organisation’s executive committee revoked its accreditation.

  • 4 months later...

I've just finished reading peer-review responses (Lancet Volume 4, Issue 10October 2017) to Heuberger and colleagues' article. They got absolutely slammed by the scientific community for their study design and their conclusion based on their data! The consensus seems to be that EPO does in fact enhance performance.

Edit: Heuberger did reply to the correspondence from his fellow peers. The reviewers will probably respond in kind in the next edition.
