TheBritishTwit Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Yip its cause that bike leg is so tough, you don't even realise it till you on the run. Which is actually dead flat. What was your time?100 agree with this. Tried holding back in the cycle so that i could function on the run and within the first km of the run, I realised there weren't any fumes left. I wanted under 4 hours as it was my first 5i50 and managed 3:50 so happy with that. Require a lot more running training for the next tri. Apparently there is a 5i50 at Sun city in October however i can't find the link to it at all. Anyone have details on this?

Here you go. https://www.11global.com/ELEVEN%20Sun%20City/ The run is super hard. Take off about 20 to 30 seconds of your usual pace to adjust for this run.
Cycling Major Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Race overall went very well... On the bike, the way back had some headwind that through us around a bit... Very happy with the time of 2:34. Swim: 25minBike: 1h:16minRun:43min Was quite boring on the run with not too many supporters on the course. Was however well organised and a great weekend out with mates Will probably be back

Anyone have details on this?Dude any finish before cut off is worth applauding actually just having the balls to start is impressive. You can be proud dude. Well done!Look at doing more base training to build aerobic endurance. Usually means running and cycling way way slower than you think you should for a couple weeks. Most of your training should be zone 2, the trick is building up your pace in HR zone 2 to what your race pace currently is now.

Was wondering what exactly is a base, so did some reading online. Found this, which I think is a pretty good article. My running pace has stalled, and I thought it was due to not doing enough of a base building, but it's not the case. I have not been as consistent with my running as I should have been, and my mileage was not increasing enough. http://www.triathlete.com/2013/03/training/the-basics-of-triathlon-base-building_24518
Davey_Jones Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Yip good article. That's the "trick" part i was referring to in my previous post. Also look around on Training Peaks for some good resources. just don't get sucked into over thinking it.
IceCreamMan Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Agh no. I know you loved that bike. Sorry to hear. Being in the UK must however open up plenty more options for you though. What you getting as a replacement? Yeah, loved that bike, carried me to 2 ironman finishes and a bunch and f halves and cycle events all over. Bought a Lapierre, little known brand here in U.K. But big on the continent, got a nice discount on it so scooped it. Better arrive soon so I can put some miles on it..

Will also add so much more brick training to the schedule so I can get used to that feeling.
