Nonky if it was for one car I would have gone the tow bar route. but I want the interchangeability to use it on both the vehicles, the Tow bar on my Audi is R9000 alone

the Best price so far on this rack is R8,550

@OP keep a lookout on One day only and Takealot, one of the two had a special on these (or a similar product) not too long ago.

However I would strongly suggest that you consider other alternatives, if not a towbar then a roof-rack. I have heard of many people who's cars were damaged with these hatch back racks!

Agree 100% with this.

But the hub is feeling helpful today!

sadly the best advise often is not the "nice" nor the short term cheaper advise ....

as for boot-lid racks ..... it sells, and some use it .... was looking at a car recently where the chave marks have really damaged the car !!!

Roofrack mounts may possibly be an answer for the OP ... more expensive than what he wants, but cheaper than the towbars ... until he parks forgetting about the bikes on the roof.

advise for a cheaper solution - Thuli HAD free reighn for years.  There are now 2 competitors in the market, also with lockable functions etc .... Arguably not as "refined" as Thuli, but certainly cheaper.  Maybe, just maybe they have something for the OP .....

Thanks to those of you that added some valuable input, its really a bit of a tricky solution considering that there are two cars involved, if it was a single car, a tow bar mounted option would have been first choice. Because of warranties on the vehicles you can only fit agent approved tow bars which are crazy expensive. Other option is the roof rack route but then you need two different foot packs, as far as I know you don't get a "Generic footpack" that would fit on any car, if you do get this then maybe the roof rack would be the better option
