So my entry level Silverback Spectra Comp has gotton an 1x11 drivetrain uograde. Lyne Pulse 32t crank and BB, Shimano M7000 SLX rear derailleur, Sram 11spd 1130chain, Shimano SLX 11-42t casette. I cant decide on what shifter to use. Im stuck between XT M8000 and SlX M7000. CWcycles has a good deal on SLX shifters for R550 and a friend wanna sell his XT for R700 secondhand. Any help would be appreciated. Also i need to replace my freehub. Anything you can advice? Im using Alex Rims Dp23.

I haven't used the SLX but the new XT 11 speed shifter is a horrible, clicky thing. No where near as smooth as previous SRAM or SLX. Perhaps try both on bikes in a shop.

Not sure if it's still the case, but I remember the big difference was that with XT you could push through multiple gears with one shift where with SLX it was one click one shift?

Could be wrong.

You are correct , when you push to shift down to a harder gear they shifter will shift A second time if you apply slightly more pressure

Slx is also click-> release -> shift

Xt and XTR shift as soons as it "clicks"

I'm not sure if this is 1x/2x/3x specific and if the newer models differ, but otherwise my xt can go through 1, 2 or 3 gears higher depending on how hard I press, and only 1 down per press.

i personally find t extremely useful on the mtb when youre in a situation where you suddenly have a flat or downhill after a bend and want to speed up quick!

Thank you all for your input. Looks like i will have to get to spend more and get the XT shifter. I ride alot of uneven trails where im constantly shifting running up and down my gears. 2/3 gears per click would be sweet.

New XT 11 speed shifts 4 gears ,then 3 gears ,then two, from the smallest  to get to the biggest .Down shifting is 3 times two shifts and then one at a time

You can shift with one push of your thumb .4 gears, then 3 gears, then two or one depending  to get to the top .Down is only 2 gears down for the first 6 gears ,then only one at a time .Does that make sense ? .I just checked on my bike. So i can go from 11 tooth to 46 tooth with 4 shifts only .Down is 8 shifts in total
