MutantBear Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 I am currently working on a project to map South African trails I will be including strava segments as well as google maps coordinates to make them easier to find. Let me know if you have any suggestions of where to ride next! Let's map as much as we can and get more people on the trails!
Mohs Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Like Engena? http://www.engena.co.za/ but please keep doing what you are planning to doing...more accurate, the better.
dave303e Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 OSM has plenty of the mtb and running trails mapped already, infact there is a dedicated opencycle map initiative, register there and do your bit maintaining their maps as a part of a world wide cycling and mapping community rather. For the hardcore mapping nerds we do every now and then have mapathon's for specific areas, usually for a good cause. For all wanting to know you can extract OSM sections as a shapefile and then edit it and output it to a gps as a route.
Mamil Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Garden route trail park ... if i get the map i'll put a pin in the exact spot where i got 3 pins in my femur.... going back next year to pin it properly... the trail that is, not my leg.

Mamil Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 It wasn't pleasant - recovery was hard because of restrictions on movement but I'm back at full strength now. Just done hoogekraal - welvanpas - faircape loop wit PR's on two of the major climbs and two of the big downhlls so I'm very pleased with myself. May be less pleased with myself when I'm toiling up Vissershok tomorrow with another 90k in the legs but hey, you're only young(ish) once ... Ouch!
