My theory is simply this: he is a better cyclist than his competitors.

It really isn't, that's my view. He is just better than everybody else. Is it over simplified, yes, can it be picked apart, yes.

But on balance he is the best cyclist at the moment.

His ability to:

Weave through the bunch and position himself

???????? Yoda level

Bouncing back from adversity - e.g. After TdF #elbowgate, he claims the rainbow jersey

???????? Neo from Matrix level

Tons of single focus on winning / absence of fear of losing

???????? Bruce Lee would be proud

Etc

And let's not forget, a powerful set of pins. No amount yodaness would help if you don't have good horsepower too.

I keep it in a clean state :)

Yes, I actaully thought about getting the Concept when I replaced my previous one. But decided to get the C60 again, like Sagan, on balance it's best and it's hand made so all the more special.

I hear your point, and agree to a large degree... there can be only one winner after all.

I think the thing that irritates most, like me... is guys who are happy to hold on to 8th place instead of risk it all and try really rip the race apart. I don't see the value in the top ten placing at a GC, but it's obviously a negotiation point for contracts etc when you can say you were up there, as apposed to saying you could have been right up there but you went for the hail-mary in week three of the Tour de France and lost everything.

It's more exciting when guys put it all on the line, when they take the big risks - there just isn't a lot of that these days and the racing is lesser for it in my view.

to do that you need your team to back you, to attack with the risk of losing everything? i think the riders get criticised  a lot on this, but isnt always up to them. the sponsors gets some exposure with a top 10 result, and the team UCI points.

He hadn't even gotten this year's medal and they were asking him about next year. . Suppose the hounding eventually paid off and he through in an answer

NEXT year.. mmmm Nibali, Alaphillipe, Valverde, Bardet...they'll like that course.

Are they allowing blood bags, holding onto cars and taking bidons in the last few kilometers or something?
