Trek has a subsidiary in SA now...no issues with support and warranty...

I see you are in Fourways, go have a chat to Danny at The Bicycle Service Company about support of the Trek brand...

Yip, been to the Bicycle SerCo and arranged a test ride with Danny / Rodger. Only around the estate. Tried to trade my car for the Ex :)

I am in the Cape ...

I can go pick it up for you ...

could even put a few miles on it for you .... just to make sure they tightened all the screws ...

All to help a fellow hubber  :whistling:

T-minus 24 hours and I can post here! Excited as a fat kid in a candy store.

Which one are you getting? Any mods planned or will you be riding it stock standard?

Going tubeless is a breeze with the Bontrager rim strips.

Check it out.
Brand new grips. Standard grips a bit hard and skinny for my liking.
So added me some LUV handles in orange.

The plan is to add orange and blue accents to the bike by replacing the ferrule's of the cable housing with orange and then bolts with blue.

Bike hauls ass like a dream, first time out on conties broke all my PR's (going down, gonna be a bit harder to break the uphill PR's set by my previous dassie, XTC) but man she rides sweet. Grip for days!

3 rides in... Still, giggle like a little boy every day I see it.

2017 EX 5. Unfortunately blown my budget for now, so will be stock standard for a little while. It's already set up tubeless. First mods planned: new tyres, dropper post, then 1x. Fork and wheels over time.

Nice. I also took the stock grips off after the first ride and put on an old pair of squishy black ESI's.

Coming off an Anthem X, I'm also smashing my old PR's on the downhills without even consciously trying and I'm also amazed by the grip...like poo to a blanket.

My orange ESI grips will also be the first things going on the bike. Also coming from a 100mm hardtail, so one can understand the excitement. Looking forward to those descents!

Whats the difference between the Bontrager XR4s and XR3s? My bike comes with the XR3s, and they didn't give me that much confidence grip wise.

Aha, the black one with blue & white accents? Nice.

I have never tested XR3's but the XR4's grip so well paired with the 29mm rim. I wouldn't mind the XR3 on the rear though. Although when the XR4's wear out I'll likely be putting a Maxxis Agressor on the back and a Minnion DHF or DHRII on the front.

Pretty much what I will be putting on: Aggressor (or maybe Ardents, not sure at the moment) at the back, and Minnion DHF front.

XR3 didn't seem to bad at the rear, so will do the front tyre first.

Whats the feeling on the 9.8? Treks numbering system is that the higher the number the better right? I ask because the 9.8 is on a crazy special right now...Trek can only give me a medium to demo though...and I ride large. Just hope it doesn't ruin the ride.
