Rouxenator Posted September 8, 2017 Posted September 8, 2017 After having done 10,000km on Chaoyang and before that Maxxis I decided to try out a new cheapie brand from China and settled on the Innova-Pro Transformers. Now normally when you want something fancy you get it from a Boutique. Think of fine clothing, confectionery, furniture and so on. If it is fancy stuff it will most likely be "boutique" stuff. So based on that these must be really fancy because it is the first "boutique tyre" I have ever had in my life Sew fahunseh ! Fitting them on my Giant P-XC2 rims was easy enough, I added 100ml Rhino sealant in each wheel and pumped it 2.5 bar and it seems to hold that without any leaks. They do seem rather skinny compared to my old 29x2.2 Chaoyangs. Tomorrow I will test them out on Piket-bo-berg, a route I am not familiar with on tyres I am not familiar with. Let's see how it goes.

Maybe I should send them back to Chaoyang so they can have a look at 10,000km tyres If these ones copy more than just the thread pattern from Schwalbe then they will of a rather soft compound and not last very long.

They do seem more like 29x2.0 to me, very round and narrow but that could just be because I am used to worn out 2.2 tyres. At 2.5 bar they offered good grip but on loose section they do tend to sink in a bit. At the price they are hard to fault.
Rouxenator Posted November 27, 2017 Author Posted November 27, 2017 Just over 3 months and just over 2200km and I'm throwing in the towel on these. They started out great but 3 days after my last post they dropped in pressure and had "bumps" where the bead was not seated, pumping it all the way up to 4.5 bar, leaving it to settle and then dropping back to 2.5 bar fixed it. But alas, the punctures. Yes, these tyres only seem to seal if the pressure inside the tyre is 1 bar. Anything above it and will start blowing out of puncture holes until either you run out of sealant or the pressure gets to 1 bar. Those who know me will know I push tyres beyond their limit as long as they play along. These ones do not. Perhaps the tread pattern is not all they copied from Schwalbe and this is my first encounter with soft compound tyres? Anyway, this is the rear one and it is in the bin. Back to Chaoyang Hornet at the back, I'll see how the front Innova holds up over the next few days.
