anyone have a "cutting a fork" guide lying around?

last i did this was 10 years ago and the frame came with a metal guide to ensure the cutting happened in a straight line.

Lovely frame!

Fork cutting guide:

- measure twice, cut once

- leave enough steerer to fit a 5mm spacer on top of your stem to make sure the stem clamps far enough below the top edge (for safety)

- use a cutting guide, e.g. https://www.parktool.com/product/threadless-saw-guide-sg-6 or SG-8 to cut straight

- use a high tooth-count saw blade (32tpi or more) or diamond tooth blade

- don't breath the carbon dust - bad for you like asbestos fibres are bad for you

- make sure you fit the steerer tube plug thingy just like the manufacturer says

- use a torque wrench on the stem bolts

Have fun!

Put masking tape around the steerer at your cut point, mark your cut line on the masking tape.  Masking tape will keep the fibres and dust to almost nothing !

Stunning frame and components. Congrats. Where did you buy your Deda bar and stem?

i got them at sigma sport.

i brought in a few things to make it worthwhile

i like sigmasport as on checkout it calculates and allows you to prepay your import and duties.

so a singal payment and a week later it arrives at yoir door. all for far less than local

the bars cost roughly 50% of local price direct from the importer.

50% for the lizzardskin tape

Thank you. I’m also looking at getting those bars from sigma. They seem to be the cheapest at the moment

by a long shot the best price on the bars.

i got quoted R4600 locally for them from the importer. R5k in cyclelab.

i have a set on my Look 586.

they are fantastically comfortable.

it was an easy choice for me at to get a second set, esp at that price
