Awesome, I’m so jealous. That’s one I want to do really badly. Good luck I’m holding thumbs that the water’s calm and your turn arrives

Penultimate Prep. Still two more miles tomorrow and then we hit Midmar.

Event number one will be my 20th Midmar crossing so apart from signalling the start of my 3rd 8 Miler it will be special in its own right.

Remember that this is, once again all in aid of charity. Choc Childhood Cancer foundation to be precise! Please consider making a small donation. I will gladly swim those miles after the event.

Alternatively, you could sponsor one of the actual event miles. I’ll swim one of those for you for a donation of R500, not the last one though, that one’s for my wife and my two little girls who do without having me around for hours so I can squeeze in some training.

If you want to donate, just go to https://kydrin.co.za/goals/View/223 and pop in your credit card details. They’ll take EFT’s as well but it seems to take a little longer!

100% of donations go to the charities!

The first sponsor of a race day mile is Mrs Rosebud Norton.

There are six more looking for sponsors. You are however welcome to donate less for a few miles in the pool next week and possibly the week thereafter if need be. Don’t be shy...

Registration complete. Kit sorted.

The best part of all is a handmade note with wishes of good luck from one of CHOC’s beneficiaries, Aphiwe.

Having a name to think of does make this cause even more real. This little one will be in my thoughts every step of the way this weekend

Over R3m raised as of 4hrs ago. That’s huge.

Donations are still open, just go to

https://kydrin.co.za/goals/View/223 and let’s boost this total.

As I said recently, I’ll swim a mile per R100 donated, even after Midmar weekend. If you want, you can sponsor a race day mile. I’m trying get R500 for one of those ;)

The wind is picking up and this was a mandatory swim aid swim. That’s a float that helps with buoyancy for those who need it.

I tried to tell them mine is built in but they didn’t buy it.

#6 - Egg ‘n Bacon Roll Time...

The next two are the big ones. This is where I hang back and let the racers go up ahead!
