Rear Shock

Hi All

With black friday on its way, im hoping for some real bargains and wanting to replace the rear shock on my Trance.

Currently have the fox float x and although it great, i have a few issues with it.

I keep fiddling with the set up [sag, ctd options (not sure if these really make much difference), rebound...etc] and cant seem to get it nicely dialed and just feels ok and not as plush as i think it should be. I recently did an air can service and didn't make much of a difference.

The other really frustrating issue is that the the rebound setting us buried away and you need to get a small allen key to turn it and its quick stiff to turn so a quick on the trail adjustment is just not possible, its really frustrating me. I have attached a pic of where the rebound is.

I see crc have a good price on the monach plus...is this a good option and what other options do i have that are not ridiculously expensive.

It is a good option. You can fit the 200x57 on the trance and it'll up the travel to 156 odd mm and transform it into a proper enduro weapon.

You NEED to get the medium / medium tune. One thing to be aware of though - if you're heavier than, say, 85kg you'll need to pack the thing with volume spacers as the debonair shock doesn't like heavy people.

Otherwise it's a great shock.

You'll probably find that the Fox just isn't the right tune for the trance. Get that sorted and it should be golden.

Thanks Myles. Was going to ask which tune i would need.

Im 81kgs now but that is heavy for me (too many novalties in the UK here). Dont think i would get to 85 kgs but no guarantees.

Although the fox is a great shock, it just never feels as plush as it is.

Question: would i just be able to replace the fox without this shock without any special adapters or anything? My fox doesn't come with a botton eyelet, would i need to remove this and fit the same as the fox?

But it will probably pedal like a dog.

The eye to eye measures at about 197 currently the stroke seems to be 57mm...i find this size to be good for my needs unless ive measured it wrong

First ride with the new shock it was eating through the travel to the point of bottoming out. So adusted air pressure a little bit and not much room to play with as the sag is right.

Second ride in and its better but still ges through all the travel so ordered some volume bands to tune it better.

Whats a good starting point in the number of bands? Im thinking two should do it but really dont want to be taking the shock off and back on alot

I'd say start on 4 and increase with 2 at A time as most riders have told me 1 band makes near as no difference

Ok so I've now added 7 bands and it's much better and not blowing through the travel.

I just want to make sure they in the right place. I've put them all in the top section of the shock, that right? Believe there's a bottom part also to add bands. What's the difference?

Thanks
