PM Fabes here on The Hub. I know he was leading a womans group at some stage. Not sure if he still does. Enjoy

According to this month's Bicycling, there is a group ride every Tue to Fri at 5:30 - Start point: BP Garage, corner Main rd and 10th ave, Walmer (sorry, I'm not sure how close that is to Summerstrand).

Probably not ladies specific, but perhaps check it out - perhaps someone there knows of a women's cycling group, or might also be interested?

Walmer is just around the corner from Summerstrand.  But both has been in the news the last couple of months for all the wrong reasons.  So I would most definitely stick to a group and maybe a bigger group just to make sure.

There is a group that ride from 5:10 from summer strand everyveru morning. They meet at the traffic lights at the old rugby stadium every morning.

As far as I know there is a summerstrand bunch that starts at strandfontein road at 520 every day around marine drive at a nice pace

I'm a little behind when it comes to group rides but I often see cyclists meeting in the Checkers parking lot on my way to work in the mornings (I leave home at 6am). I haven't really noticed if they are returning at that time or just about to leave.

 

There was also a group that meets at Virgin Active in Lorraine. 

 

I cannot offer any names or contacts I'm afraid.

 

I'm on a cycling whatsapp group. I'll post something there for you.

There is a large group that leaves the old Boet Erasmus stadium at 5:10 each morning, and lately it has split into a slower and a faster group and they both go around Marine Drive.. There is also a Tuesday and Thursday group that leaves 8th ave Walmer Caltex and goes down to Summerstrand and does loops of 2nd ave and Admiralty - probably gets to the petrol station at top of 2nd ave around 05;50, where you could wait for them in safety.
