Indoor Smart Spinners

Hi hubbers,

My wife and I are potentially in the market for a smart indoor stationary cycle.  So far, the only locally available options that I can come up with are the Cycleops phantom 3 & 5 and Watt bikes.

I would really appreciate any information regarding alternatives to these.

Cheaper option is to put your bike on a smart trainer such as Cycleops Hammer, Cycleops Magnus, Wahoo Kickr, Tacx Neo, Tacx Flux etc.

Depends on what your budget is and why you are considering a stationary trainer rather than an indoor trainer?

Thanks for the reply, Shaper.

We are aware of all the trainer options, and might still go that route.  For the time being, we would like to explore the stationary bike/ spinner option.  Are there really only 2 brands (3 models) available locally?

Head over to www.cycleops.co.za for more info on our smart bike on trainers such as the Magnus or Hammer or our smart bikes the CycleOps Phantom 3 or Phantom 5. All are in stock and delivery is on us. :)

I would personally not even consider a Wattbike. Not really a 'smart' trainer, very limited interface ability, and the service from the agents tend to be crap

O, and very expensive

Thanks, have already done that.  Again, are there alternatives?

Give the Wattbike Atom some thought.  Not yet readily available but does everything at a much lower price point than the original wattbike.

I've used the cyclops devices (phanotm) before.  Rock solid.  I'm not entirely sure they integrate fully with things like Zwift though?  Just confirm this first if you plan on using that software...

That atom looks pretty cool! I see RRP is 1500£. Will have to see how much it will be locally.

Its also a smart trainer and can integrate with 3rd party apps.
